Clinical Ethics eSimulation Scenario

End of Life

Overview

Ethical decision making requires us to think carefully about how underlying values inform decisions, particularly at the end of life. Ethical unease is common, particularly where we are unclear about what is important to the patient, or where prognosis in uncertain.

This eSimulation learning package is designed to help you understand these issues in relation to a case study involving Harry, who is admitted to hospital. The issues presented in this case are relevant to all health practitioners, irrespective of specialty.

Harry’s story is divided into three parts. As a health practitioner following Harry along the care continuum, you will interact with aspects of the scenario, and make decisions about Harry’s care throughout. At the end of the three parts, you will be able to print a certificate which you can keep as a record that you have successfully completed the learning package.
