General Instructions - About these modules

This eSimulation learning resource presents life-like simulated narratives for you to engage with, offering opportunity to explore the complexities that can often be involved in these critical health events.

You will need to be using the Google Chrome browser for this module to function as intended. The Firefox browser is also a good choice but Internet Explorer is no longer supported by its manufacturers and will not provide a good experience when used. In order to use this module with Google Chrome, first open your Google Chrome browser and then copy and paste or type 'clinicalethics.healthcare' into the address bar. Just clicking on a link you may have been supplied in an email will tend to open the module in your default browser which is likely to be Internet Explorer. So use the above technique to ensure that you are using Google Chrome for a good result.

Much of the progress through the narratives is self-explanatory, with instruction embedded to assist in your advancement through each scenario. The actual narratives will appear for the most part in the form of slideshows with text overlays and occasional audio elements.

Underneath each slideshow you can find a transcript of the narrative if you want to view the full segment of text at once. You can pause each slideshow if needed and note that upon restarting, the slideshow will recommence from the previous slide.

At other points in the information presented you will find Dynamic Glossary popups similar to the one shown here. The popups will allow you to check your understanding of a term or idea with conventional wisdom. In some cases the popup will appear on mouse rollover and you may need to keep your mouse over the link for the popup to persist.

Similarly, there are Learn More segments that operate in a similar way to the Glossary. Both these inclusions allow you to explore your understanding of a subject in greater depth.

There are other elements of interactivity ranging from multiple choice questions, through sorting boxes and drag and drop quizzes that will further test your understanding in an engaging way.

At various points you will have the opportunity to view video experts in each field discuss how they might approach a similar situation. We strongly encourage you to watch these videos as the individuals filmed have a lifetime of experience dealing with complex health scenarios.

Finally, in order to progress from one page to the next you will need to complete all the interactive elements on the page so that the green menu bar appears at the bottom of each page, as shown here.
